As a multi medium artist, Otsile started pencil drawing in high school then completed a national diploma in fine art at Tshwane University of Technology. “I was inspired by my father who was a crafter I used to observe his impeccable craftsmanship from which I established my own style. My art is my expression of how I see myself and my community.”

Mme Mangope is an inspirational art and craft veteran who completed her Diploma in design and screen-printing in 1987. She is self-taught in bead-making and has also done professional courses and training in glass beads and sandblasting. She started her business where she produces custom hand-made bead accessories and other astonishingly beautiful crafts which are sort after across the North West Province. “My inspiration is my mother who taught me sewing and as a single parent my motivation is my children whom I am putting through university using my talent.”She has taught many bead crafters and continues to transfer her skill to the youth whenever she can.

Gaonakala was born on the 20-09-1993 in a village in Taung He started his career in visual art at an early age of 12,where he was involved in school art projects and used to love drawing biology and science diagrams as a student. This love for art won him several art competition at school.

This self-taught artist specializes in drawings, paintings and sculpting. “My inspiration is drawn from every day-life experiences in rural communities. My art-work is a depiction of my background and an expression of my point of view. My biggest objective is to out-do myself on every art pie I produce and to be exposed to a worldwide market.”
He has exhibited at numerous local art exhibitions including North West cultural calabash, Mahika Mahikeng among others

Thabiso’s work epitomizes the result of harndwork and talent. He grew up in Umlazi township south of Durban where he was inspired by the vibrant art scene around the Durban beach fronts. He started as a photographer and later picked up a paintbrush and painstakingly taught himself how to paint then later took up lessons from a friend who helped refine his skill and has since firmly established his unique style based on his influence from photography.

“With painting it’s not all about the literal picture as you see it, it gives you the opportunity to convey nuances that a camera cannot capture.”

Irvin Moakufi Mmono stated his career at Mmabana Foundation Centre as a Fine Artist since 1987. He studied art and related disciplines at tertiary level for over 10 years. He went to Wits Technikon for Fine Art Courses, after which he completed his two Diplomas (Diploma in Art Direction & Diploma in International Marketing) at AAA School of Advertising. He became an Art/Design Creative Teacher at Johannesburg Art Gallery for 5 years & moved on to Lowe Bull/Mullen Lowe Gauteng where he worked with multi-national brands as a Studio Illustrator & Graphic Designer. He later worked for 6&9 Holdings (Pty) Ltd as a Graphic Designer & Illustrator. Irvin has been in Art Industry for over 30 years.His industry experience of over 30 years allows him to be a skilled specialist across a broad array of art mediums. As a mixed medium specialist, his art focuses on culture, heritage & environment depiction Abstract, Realism and landscape.“ I takes art as a medicine, it is therapeutic and heals people as it evokes feelings which can help restore one’s balance.”Some of his accolades include winning the following art competitions: Women for Peace Art Competition, BTH Art Competition, North West Drawing Art Competition, Stambo/Standard Bank Art Competition, Letsatsing Science- High School Art Competition.

Mme Raphephe is the proud founder of a company called Raphepe Glass Arts. She individually designs, and hand-sandblasts glassware.

She mainly does bespoke designs for individuals, the hospitality and corporate organisations who care about environmentally-friendly and sustainable, beautiful, glassware. Desiree She started the company, as Maud Glass Arts, in 2003 when she was retrenched after 20 years in the corporate world where she was an administrator and project manager.

She learnt the art of glass sandblasting, stained glass décor, fusing and slumping glassware began as a hobby. However her natural, creative talent was soon recognized and Desiree was encouraged to put her talent to work.

“The shock of retrenchment was a wake-up call and motivation for me to not only become the master of my own destiny but additionally challenge myself to explore my other talent in art and craft. When I started this company years ago, my goal was to change lives, not only that of my family but also that of my community. I grew up in a family that had a very strong entrepreneurial spirit. This was instilled in me by my parents who also got it from my grandparents.”

Desiree is a true inspiration to her family, community and is an example of a self-empowered woman who is discouraged by nothing to achieve her goals.
